Placka Instruments India Pvt. Ltd. was founded in 1972 by Dr. P.J. Jacob, with a vision to provide India with reliable and high-quality process control instruments. At a time when the industry relied heavily on imported products, Placka pioneered indigenous solutions, introducing import substitution instruments that quickly gained recognition across various industrial sectors. Over the years, we have grown into a trusted manufacturer of Air Filter Regulators, Rotameters, Level Gauges, Controllers, and more, catering to industries such as oil & gas, power, pharmaceuticals, automotive, food processing, and shipbuilding. Our focus has always been on innovation, precision, and performance, ensuring that every product we deliver meets the highest global standards.
Placka Instruments was founded by Dr. Jacob Placka, a Gold Medalist from Loyola College, Madras, and an engineering graduate in Instrumentation Technology from the Madras Institute of Technology. His distinguished career included key roles at Bhilai Steel Plant, the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre—where he led the Instrumentation and Control Department of the Plutonium Plant—and as Chief Engineer at Hindustan Aluminum Corporation.
In 1972, driven by a vision to manufacture world-class instrumentation systems in India, Dr. Placka established a production facility in Chennai. At a time when “Made in India” products faced resistance, his uncompromising focus on quality earned trust across refineries, fertilizer plants, and other industries. He went on to develop over 20 types of instruments that gained recognition both in India and abroad, including at the global instrumentation exhibition in Düsseldorf, Germany.
Today, his vision has grown into the Placka Group of Companies, comprising multiple ISO-certified enterprises and an educational institution with over 1,200 students. Providing employment to more than 300 people, Placka Instruments continues to uphold Dr. Placka’s legacy of innovation, excellence, and reliability in instrumentation solutions.
